Our new 1867 Cafe Bar and Hall are available to hire for public and private events. A perfect city centre location (only a 5 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station) for your next meeting, event or celebration.
Tyne Theatre & Opera House’s new 1867 Cafe Bar is open between 10am-3pm Monday to Friday, and two hours prior to evening shows for you to enjoy a delicious pre-show cocktail, glass of wine or soft drink.
The 1867 Cafe Bar is also available for private here with a capacity of 40. Please contact us to discuss your dates and proposed event with our team.
Tyne Theatre & Opera House’s 1867 Hall has a standing capacity of 120 (160 if used alongside the 1867 Cafe Bar), and seated capacity of approximately 80.
The hall is available for community, cultural, corporate events – as well as personal celebrations. Please contact us to discuss your dates and proposed event with our team.
We have various areas within the theatre which can be used as private hospitality areas during shows.
Our charming Coffee Lounge on the Grand Circle level (2nd floor) accommodates up to 20 people. You can order your intermission refreshments to be served at the private bar. The Lounge stairs connect to the Stalls, Bistro Bar and bathroom facilities downstairs. You can have your group seated anywhere in the theatre to hire this room for your theatre visit.
Please note that due to the age and many steps of the building, this room is not wheelchair accessible.

Hiring our elegant private bar and lounge behind the Box CC on the Grand Circle level (2nd floor) is the perfect space to entertain your guests or friends. The room accommodates up to 14 people. Your intermission refreshments will be served at the private bar. There are private bathroom facilities and a cloak area.
It’s an ideal accompaniment for seats in the Box CC or elsewhere on the Grand Circle. Due to the age and many steps of the building, this room is not wheelchair accessible.

We also hire the Stalls Bar and the Bistro Bar on ground floor, where areas can be sectioned off for you and your guests. Both areas are wheelchair accessible. Drink packages and catering can be quoted on request.
