Join us

If you have a love for the theatre onstage or backstage, come and join us! There are a number of ways you can participate.

Tyne Theatre Productions (TTP) is Tyne Theatre and Opera House’s in-house amateur dramatic company, managed within the theatre’s Community Engagement & Participation strand.

TTP is a member-based company performing an annual production that raise funds for the preservation and restoration of Tyne Theatre & Opera House. As well as the annual production, in 2026 TTP will also take part in a Gala performance at the theatre in summer 2026, alongside Tyne Theatre Voices (our new community choir) and Tyne Youth Company.  There are additional opportunities to take part in events and workshops as part of TTOH’s community engagement work.

Sonia Hernandez – Director
Sonia is diving back in for her fourth adventure directing with Tyne Theatre Productions, and this one might just be the craziest yet! She’s previously steered The Full Monty, Rent, and most recently the epic Jesus Christ Superstar. When she’s not in the director’s chair, Sonia can usually be found backstage production managing for TTP or stage managing with theatre groups all across the North East.
Kate Walker – Choreographer
Kate trained at Italia Conte in London before returning to the North East and a freelance career as a dancer and teacher.  She recently choreographed Sister Act for Sunderland Theatre Company and is currently working on their production of We Will Rock You. Kate teaches dance to all ages and across all styles and is very much looking forward to her first production with Tyne Theatre Productions.
Jennifer Wagstaff – Musical Director
A lifelong musical theatre fan, Jennifer’s MD experience includes 4 years with the Northumbria MT Society (Sweeney Todd, Bare, Fame) as well as MD for Tyne Theatre Production’s of Oklahoma in 2016.  After a number of years away from the North East, she is now back as Assistant MD with the Jubilee Theatre on their production Urinetown, and is excited to return as part of the TTP Artistic Team for SpongeBob the Musical
