Ukrainian National Opera® presents one of the world’s most beloved operas returns in a stunning production from the Dnipro Opera, Ukraine. Puccini’s Madama Butterfly is a timeless story of love, devotion and sacrifice, performed in Italian with English surtitles and accompanied by a live orchestra.
Set in Japan at the turn of the twentieth century, the opera follows Cio-Cio-San, a young geisha who gives up everything for love. Her marriage to the American naval officer Pinkerton offers dreams of happiness and a new future, but her unwavering faith and devotion lead to one of opera’s most heartbreaking conclusions.
Featuring some of Puccini’s most beautiful and famous music, including One Fine Day, the Love Duet and the Humming Chorus, Madama Butterfly remains one of the most powerful and emotionally affecting works ever written for the stage.
With magnificent costumes, atmospheric staging, outstanding soloists and a live orchestra, this production promises an unforgettable evening of beauty, drama and music.
