The Tyne Theatre and Opera House was filled with festive warmth and community spirit as Tyne Theatre Voices, the theatre’s brand-new Community Choir, took to the iconic stage for its inaugural Christmas Concert.
The performance, which will now become a centrepiece of the venue’s festive programme, brought together a beautiful mix of seasonal favourites. Traditional carols rang out across the auditorium, with the audience warmly encouraged to join in, creating a shared and uplifting celebration of Christmas.
Spirits were lifted even further during a lively rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas, where enthusiastic audience participation added a liberal sprinkling of festive cheer and laughter to the evening.
Tyne Theatre Voices was formed to offer local people the opportunity to come together, meet new friends, create collectively and perform regularly on one of the country’s most remarkable stages.
Open to the community, the choir celebrates the joy of singing while giving participants the unforgettable experience of performing in the Tyne Theatre and Opera House itself.
Importantly, all proceeds from the choir and its performances go directly back into supporting the work of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust. The Trust owns and operates the Grade I listed venue, one of the few remaining and most significant Victorian theatres in the UK, ensuring it is preserved and maintained for future generations.
Those inspired to take part are warmly encouraged to get involved — whether by joining Tyne Theatre Voices, supporting one of the theatre’s many community initiatives, or volunteering behind the scenes.
