‘Search for a Star‘ Auditions Announced for This Year’s Magical Christmas Pantomime at Tyne Theatre & Opera House

 

Tyne Theatre & Opera House and pantomime production partner Enchanted Entertainment are on the lookout for a local performer aged 18+ from the North East to play a principal role in Aladdin and perform alongside the show’s all-star cast, including panto regulars and hilarious Geordie comics Charlie Richmond and Lewis Denny.

North East performers aged 18+ will have to attend the auditions taking place on Thursday 16th July from 11am at Tyne Theatre & Opera House and be available all day for the audition process. Hopefuls need to bring a song of their choice with a backing track to sing to the audition panel. They will then be given some acting sections from the script of Aladdin to perform in front of the pantomime’s creative team.

Producer Guy Pascall said:

“Aladdin is going to be a fantastic Christmas production and what an amazing opportunity for a local performer to gain valuable professional experience in the panto and start them off on their own glittering career. Also, for the first time ever, we’re looking at multiple roles during the audition process so this opportunity really is open to any performer in the North East aged 18+”.

The successful candidate must also be available from 19th November – 3rd December for rehearsals and then from 4th December – 3rd January for the actual performances. The role is contracted, meaning the performer will be paid for their work on the show.

Tyne Theatre & Opera House and Enchanted Entertainment will be bringing 54 magical performances of Aladdin to the Westgate Road venue from 4th December ‘26 – 3rd January ’27, including 3 ‘Adult Panto’ performances towards the end of the run. The pantomime will feature a fantastic live band and, as always, the show will be packed with a host of top stars including the return of hilarious North East panto comics Charlie Richmond and Lewis Denny.

Musical Director Jezz Weatherall said:

“Aladdin has to be one of the nation’s favourite pantomimes and we’ll be looking for someone to perform in the show that can sing, dance and act to a very high standard. As well as a fantastic cast, the panto will also include a brilliant live band for our successful performer to sing with in the show”.
