We are pleased to announce we have completed emergency lighting upgrades to our building. This work was made possible with a grant of £5000 from Theatres Trust Small Grants Programme supported by The Linbury Trust in 2024. The Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust matched this by investing another £5000 in the repairs.

New lighting has been added in hazardous backstage areas and to fire escapes around the building. We have also increased the number of illuminated running man signs above fire escapes. The health and safety of our staff and patrons is paramount to us and acquiring the new lighting has been an important step forward. These works also improve our sustainability, as old fluorescent lights have been replaced with energy-efficient LEDs, which are also less likely break and cheaper to replace.

Thank you to Theatres Trust, The Linbury Trust and our audiences whose donations ensure we can maintain our heritage venue, keep the lights on and doors open!
